On an HPE ProLiant DL325/DL385 Gen10 Plus server running a System ROM prior to version 2.40 and configured with the default CPLD (For the DL325 Gen10 Plus, the default version is 0x11, and for the DL385 Gen10 Plus, the default version is v2A2A), the OCP aux mode cooling supports a high fan speed level only. The high level aux cooling takes the fan(s) from stop to high speed, which may result in acoustic concerns, especially when the system is in aux mode.
Any HPE ProLiant DL325/DL385 Gen10 Plus Server.
System ROM v2.40 (or later) with the CPLD versions listed below allows OCP aux mode cooling to enable fan speed control based on temperature. Instead of one high speed level only, the fan speed will be automatically adjusted to keep OCP temperature within specification. To implement OCP aux mode fan control, update the server to System ROM v2.40 AND update the CPLD to the version detailed below. If both are not updated, the aux mode will remain one level cooling only.
