An issue was identified with ONYX-3.7.1134, the switch firmware that is factory installed on new switches. When Molex DAC cables (model# JD096C) are connected to the switch ports prior to power-on, the switch will constantly restart or become unresponsive to CLI commands. HPE recommends updating all new switches to ONYX-3.8.2204 or later revisions, prior to connecting Molex (JD096C) DAC data cables.

This issue was fixed in ONYX-3.7.1200 and carried on to later HPE ONYX releases. To avoid this issue, it is recommended to upgrade to a minimum version of ONYX-3.8.2008 prior to connecting to any Molex (JD096C) data cable.HPE recommends updating to ONYX-3.8.2204 or later, per HPE M-series switch SPOCK support matrix to improve switch supportability.Currently, HPE M-series switches have ONYX-3.7.1134 factory installed and are exposed to this issue if the Molex DAC cables are connected prior to power-on and updated to a later ONYX version. To avoid this issue and upgrade to a minimum version of ONYX-3.8.2008 or later:Do not connect any Molex cable to new switches running ONYX-3.7.1134.Without any cables attached, power up the new switch and update to ONYX-3.8.2008 or later version and reload ONYX.Connect the cables to the switch after the updated ONYX version has loaded successfully.NOTE: The HPE M-series switch has two (2) factory installed bootable ONYX partitions. If the switch was booted with Molex DAC cables installed, the booted partition may have been corrupted. If so, then remove all cables, power cycle the switch, and then select the other image partition during the boot up when prompted from the serial CLI console. After this image boots, update ONYX as recommended before attaching Molex DAC cables.RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively in your e-mail through HPE Subscriber's Choice.
