The following operations may potentially remove the virtual disk source paths from the Virtual Machine (VM) definition configuration file in certain conditions:VM CPU or Memory resize or reconfigurationVM Disk expansionSnapshot operations (if redefinition of VM is invoked)Due to a temporary storage visibility issue, the Morpheus application may incorrectly mark disk source paths for removal from the VM. While that condition persists, any of the above operations will cause Morpheus to modify the VM definition configuration file excluding the removed virtual disk source paths. As a result of these removed devices, the affected VMs may not boot or function as expected until the disk source paths are added back to VM definitions.
Any system running Morpheus Enterprise version 8.0.11. 8.0.12, 8.0.13, 8.1.0, and HPE VM Essentials (VME) VMs managed by Morpheus Enterprise, and HPE GreenLake Private Cloud Business Edition.
As a workaround, prior to making any changes to a Virtual Machine, examination of the VM properties on the Morpheus Enterprise User Interface Virtual Machine properties page is required.Verify that all VM disk devices have an existing Data Store listed. If there is a VM disk device with no datastore listed, make NO changes and engage HPE Morpheus/VM Essentials support to reconfigure the VMs with disk source paths.A snip of the UI Virtual Machine properties page below shows where the Data Store information is located for verification. Note the missing detail highlighted.A future version of Morpheus Enterprise will address this issue.
