On HPE Gen12 servers, the Hardware Validation Tool (HVT) in HPE Intelligent Provisioning utilizes an updated diagnostic framework compared to the framework used on Gen10 and Gen11 servers. This updated framework supports the HVT Quick Test; however, it currently supports execution of only a single test loop. This is the expected and supported behavior. In contrast, Gen10 and Gen11 servers will continue to support executing HVT tests for multiple loops. This occurs because HPE Gen12 platforms leverage a newer diagnostic execution framework that differs from the framework used on prior generations. This framework currently supports single‑pass diagnostic execution and does not implement loop‑based test repetition. As HVT relies on the underlying diagnostic framework for execution control, multi‑loop testing is not currently supported on Gen12 platforms.
Any HPE Gen12 systems with any HPE Intelligent Provisioning versions up to version 5.04.
This issue will be addressed in a future IP release and this advisory will be updated when the solution is available. Beginning with this updated release, the option to select multiple test loops on Gen12 platforms will be hidden until further determination of multi‑loop test support on the updated diagnostic. Until then, this option may still appear in the UI, but is not functionally supported on Gen12 platforms.Document VersionRelease DateDetails2April 29, 2026Updated with additional information1April 28, 2026Original document release
