This document contains actions that are highly recommended to significantly improve your Synergy Experience. This advisory replaces Synergy CA a00052101en_us. To accomplish this, all of the referenced recommendations below should be implemented as soon as feasible in accordance with Synergy solution best practices also mentioned below. This advisory provides a flowchart to use during a maintenance window. This requires the customer’s Synergy system (including Operating System) administrators to synchronize firmware and drivers for the best outcome. Best Practices for HPE Synergy Firmware and Driver Updates are available at https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c05212310 . As usual, the latest Synergy firmware and software can be found on www.hpe.com/downloads/synergy .
Any HPE Synergy platform with Synergy software and firmware installed. Also applicable to BladeSystem and ProLiant servers using OneView.
HPE strongly recommends all Synergy customers take advantage of these improvements by updating the key component fixes in Synergy Custom SPP Version 2019.03.2019.0612 (or later) With the Management Combination of Synergy Composer 4.20.01.01/Image Streamer 4.20.00 (or later). The following software and firmware upgrade actions will improve the Synergy experience. See the flowchart below for more details: Deploying VMware vSphere on HPE Synergy - Best Practice Guide: https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=a00050865en_us Below is the list of important fixes introduced in OneView 4.20.01.01 and Synergy Virtual Connect firmware 1.40. For a complete list of fixes and enhancements, please refer to the following links for downloads and software Release Notes: HPE Synergy Software Releases Overview: www.hpe.com/downloads/synergy HPE SYNERGY SOFTWARE RELEASES: COMPOSER 4.20.02 and IMAGE STREAMER 4.20.01 Release Notes HPE Synergy Composer 4.20.02 Release Notes HPE Synergy Image Streamer 4.20.01 Release Notes OneView 4.20.01.01 introduced several improvements to ensure a smooth upgrade process with high customer satisfaction feedback. OneView 4.20.01.01 (or later) Resolved an invalid Interconnect Link Topology (ILT) issue when enclosures of production workloads are moved between servers and data centers, which can cause a network outage and require extensive down time to recover. HPE OneView for Synergy 4.10.03 - Invalid Interconnect Link Topology Error with GUI Displaying ILT Incorrectly on All Frames Resolved an issue where the proxy could not be configured and Remote Support was unable to establish a connection to HPE after upgrading HPE OneView 4.1x. HPE OneView 4.10.X - After a OneView Upgrade or Installation, Remote Support May Be Unable to Establish a Connection When Using Windows-Based NTLM Authentication for Proxy Servers Resolved an issue when two-factor authentication login fails on an appliance that contains more than 250 certificates in the OneView Trust Store (i.e., all-certificates.crt file). HPE OneView - Login to OneView Using Two-Factor Authentication Will Fail When More Than 250 Certificates Are in the OneView Trust Store / Resolved an issue where HPE OneView closed abruptly. During restart, the database startup failed because there was no disk space in the appliance. HPE OneView - OneView May Stop Functioning and Will Not Restart Later Resolved an issue where after removing the server from the inventory and unassigning the server profile, the appliance had an outage when the user changes the chassis serial number and then refreshes the logical enclosure or the server. HPE OneView - Server May Be Removed from Inventory, Made Unmanaged or the Profile Will Be Undeployed If the Serial Number or Product ID Is Changed and an Enclosure or Server Is Refreshed Synergy Virtual Connect 1.40 (or later) Resolved an issue where a temporary or transient network outage could occur on Ethernet, FCoE, and/or FC networks across both interconnect modules when a compute module configured for Virtual Port LAG (VPLAG) on s-channels is rebooted resulting in intermittent flapping of the VPLAG. HPE Virtual Connect - On an HPE OneView 4.10.04 for Synergy System, a Soft Reboot of a VMware ESXi Server May Cause Network Connection Flapping for Some Period of Time Resolved an issue where Virtual Connect SE 40Gb Modules go to Configuration Error after a firmware update. This may cause connectivity loss for compute modules. HPE OneView for Synergy - HPE Virtual Connect SE 40Gb F8 Module May Enter a Non-Configurable State Due to Lost SNMP Credentials Resolved an issue where a high rate of ARP/RARP traffic on the network may cause intermittent LACP timeouts resulting in traffic loss. Compute modules in affected frames would experience connectivity loss (dropped packets, poor performance, or even application/OS crash.) HPE Virtual Connect SE 40Gb F8 Module for Synergy - Module May Experience Intermittent Connectivity Loss Including LACP Timeouts and Loss of LLDP Transmission When High Rates of Reverse ARP Are Evident on the Networking The following key upgraded content and benefits are available in the Syngergy Custom SPP 2019.03.2019.0612 (or later): New QLFE driver for ESXi Security patches to BIOS and iLO for Spectre/Meltdown vulnerabilities Same security for Composers and Image Streamers Reduce correctable and uncorrectable memory errors Improved network stability Reduce VMware crashes Memory reliability improvements and security enhancements Network adapter reliability improvements in certain VMware environments Improved CPU stability Gen10 Smart Array controller Smartpqi Driver 1.0.3.2309-1 and firmware 1.99 (vSAN certified by VMware).
