A small number of HPE Gen10 Smart Array Controllers were inadvertently shipped with firmware version 1.66 in HPE ProLiant Servers. However, the current shipping version as of the date of this advisory is 1.65. In some cases, firmware versions 1.65 and 1.66 were shipped within the same purchase order/shipment. Smart Array firmware version 1.66 is a "special" version that was created specifically for SimpliVity servers, but it can be used without risk on ProLiant servers. Important: Since Smart Array firmware version 1.66 is a special release, it will not be posted or available on the HPE Support Center website.

No action is required. However, if the system administrator has a requirement that all servers are on the same firmware version, HPE recommends to install Smart Array version 1.65 (current as of this document creation) or update to the current available on the HPE Support Center website. To obtain the latest Smart Array firmware, follow the steps below: 1. Click the following link: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/home 2. Enter a product name (e.g., "HPE Smart Array P816i-a Controller") in the text search field and wait for a list of products to populate. From the products displayed, identify the desired product and click on the Drivers & software icon to the right of the product. 3. From the Drivers & software dropdown menus on the left side of the page: a. Select the Software Type - (Firmware) b. Select the Software Sub Type - (Storage Controller) 4. Select the latest release of RECOMMENDED * Online ROM Flash Component for HPE Smart Array Version 1.65 (or later ). Note: To ensure the latest version will be downloaded, click on the Revision History tab to check if a new version of the firmware is available. 5. Click Download. RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES : Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively via e-mail through HPE Subscriber's Choice.
