Some Platinum 500W (Model# HSTNS-PC40-1) and 800W (Model# HSTNS-PC41-1) power supplies with a CT#:XXXXXXX8JXXXXX and firmware version 1.01 (or earlier).Do Not replace the system board this will not change the failure mechanismFirmware power supply verification process: Use the HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) interface to verify the firmware on any HPE 500W or 800W Platinum power supplies installed in a suspect server configuration. Check the system information page for the power supply and verify the firmware currently installed. Boot to iLO 5 -> select system Information -> then power supplies. (See Figure 1 items bracketed in Green below):Figure 1:iLO 5 screenNot all 500W and 800w power supplies are affected, note digit 6 and digit 7 from the end of the Serial # for the supply. If the digits are 8J then check the firmware if the firmware is earlier than 1.02 upgrade the power supply firmware via the identified firmware process of choice in Service Action field below.Firmware below highlighted in Green below are modified 1.02 (fixed) firmware examples. The serial # and Firmware bracketed in Red is a firmware that needs to be updated via the component pack process (800W power supply shown below):Figure 2: Power Supply list in iLOAHS Power Supply Verification process:Use the AHS to verify the firmware on any 800W Platinum power supplies installed in a suspect server configuration. The Power supply CT number can be found in either the Dashboard or Static Tab information on the AHS screens. (See Figures 3 & 4 below, supply info bracketed in red are old firmware, items bracketed in Green show upgraded supply).Figure 3:Dashboard Tab viewFigure 4:Static Tab viewIf the power supply is out of the system any factory updated supply should have a Green dot on the Agency label on top of the supply (800W power supply shown below):Figure 5:Agency Label with Green dot indicating Factory Firmware reworkIf the power supply is installed in a server the modified supplies can be identified by a black dot on the rear fan cage of the power supply just above the 800w wattage label visible from the rear of the server (800W power supply shown below).Figure 6:Black Dot (ink/marker) on rear Fan Label indicating Factory Firmware rework
Upgrade any 500W or 800W Platinum power supply CT#:XXXXXXX8JXXXXX to firmware version 1.02 or later as follows:For Windows:cp031686.exehttps://downloads.hpe.com/pub/softlib2/software1/sc-windows-fw/p541281236/v125879/cp031686.exeFor Linux:firmware-powersupply-gen10powersupply-2018.06.21-1.1.x86_64.rpmhttps://downloads.hpe.com/pub/softlib2/software1/sc-linux-fw/p2018115667/v153652/RPMS/x86_64/firmware-powersupply-gen10powersupply-2018.06.21-1.1.x86_64.rpmAffected platform list:HPE ProLiant DL580 Gen10 ServerHPE ProLiant DL560 Gen10 ServerHPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 ServerHPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 ServerHPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 ServerHPE ProLiant ML350 Gen10 ServerHPE ProLiant ML110 Gen10 ServerHPE ProLiant XL190r Gen10 ServerHPE ProLiant XL170r Gen10 ServerHPE Apollo 4510 SystemHPE Apollo r2800 Gen10 24 SFF Flexible Configure-to-order ChassisHPE Apollo r2600 Gen10 24 SFF Premium Configure-to-order ChassisHPE Apollo r2200 Gen10 12 LFF Configure-to-order Chassis
