Symptoms

NetWorker Bare Metal Recovery (BMR) fails with the message: "RPC send operation failed; errno = An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"WinPE restore fail

Cause

By default, the Windows firewall is enabled on WinPE.

Resolution

Access the WinPE command line on the recovery host. You might have to exit the Windows BMR Wizard to access the WinPE command line. If you exit the wizard, do not reboot.Disable the Windows firewall. For example: X:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\wizard>wpeutil DisableFirewall Restart the wizard. For example: X:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\wizard> javaw -jar WinPEWizard.jar
