This issue occurs with the following configuration: A daisy chain monitor MST setup Any monitor with no Display Stream Compression (DSC) supported is the first monitor in the chain A Dell U2723QE, U2725QE, or U3225QE with High Dynamic Range (HDR) enabled is the second monitor in the chain The problematic setup is an NVIDIA Quadro card connected over DisplayPort 1 with MST to a monitor that does not support DSC. The MST DisplayPort is connected to a Dell U2723QE, U2725QE, or U3225QE HDR-supported monitor and is turned on. The monitor either flashes with a bright light, has video corruption, or has a black screen. Affected Monitors: Dell U2723QE Dell UltraSharp 27 4K Thunderbolt Hub Monitor U2725QE Dell UltraSharp 32 4K Thunderbolt Hub Monitor U3225QE
A compatibility issue with the NVIDIA card causes this behavior.
The following workaround setups can be used to fix this behavior: Connect the monitors to the DisplayPort ports instead of using a daisy chain monitor (MST) setup. From the NVIDIA Quadro card, connect the DSC-unsupported monitor to DisplayPort 1. From the NVIDIA Quadro card, connect the Dell U2723QE, U2725QE, or U3225QE HDR-supported monitor. In the daisy chain (MST) setup, connect the HDR-supported monitor as the first monitor. Connect the DSC-unsupported monitor after that monitor.
