ESXi nodes and VMs can get out of sync with NTP server.
Unstable NTP Service Startup Policy Some systems may have an ESXi node NTP service startup Policy configured as "Start and stop with port usage." This can lead to an issue with ESXi nodes and VMs going out of sync during builds and deployments when the NTP source is not stable. The recommended configuration is "Start and stop with the host," although the "Start and stop with port usage" setting can be used once the system is in a stable network.
Change the NTP Service Startup Policy from "Start and stop with port usage" to "Start and stop with host" To configure the Network Time Protocol (NTP) on an ESXi host using the vSphere Web Client: Log in to the vCenter Server using the vSphere Web Client. Select Hosts and Clusters . Select an ESXi host. Go to the Configure tab. Under System, select Time Configuration . Click Edit . Select Use Network Time Protocol (Enable NTP client) . Click Start . For the NTP Service Startup Policy, select Start and stop with host . On NTP Servers, insert the NTP server you want to use. Click OK .
