For the HPE Synergy 6310C 25/50 Gb Ethernet Adapter, the SR-IOV virtual function allocations cannot be changed using the "Requested Virtual Functions" option via the HPE OneView Server Profile. The SR-IOV will be enabled by default, and eight virtual functions will be allocated to each connection.Attempting to change "None," "Auto," or "Custom" in OneView will have no effect on the number of virtual functions for the connection. The example below shows the default of eight SR-IOV Virtual Functions displayed for VMware ESXi, even though the "Requested Virtual Functions" is set to "None" in the HPE OneView Server Profile:
Any HPE Synergy 480 Gen11/Gen12 Compute Module with HPE Synergy 6310C 25/50 Gb Ethernet Adapter managed by HPE OneView.
If the virtual functions need to be changed from the default settings, the requested virtual functions and SR-IOV can be set directly on the Operating System (OS) using the Broadcom OS driver tool called "NICCLI Configuration Utility." The NICCLI tool is available for Windows, Linux, ESXi, and the UEFI shell.Perform the actions below if the virtual function allocations need to be changed:To check the current number of virtual functions for the first physical function, enter:# ./niccli -i 1 nvm -getoption number_of_vfs_per_pf -scope 0number_of_vfs_per_pf = 0x8 (8)Set the number of virtual functions to 64 on the first physical function:# ./niccli -i 1 nvm -setoption number_of_vfs_per_pf -scope 0 -value 64number_of_vfs_per_pf is set successfully.Reboot the system to apply the updated configuration. After a reboot, check all of the new virtual function allocations:# ./niccli -i 1 nvm -getoption number_of_vfs_per_pf -scope 0number_of_vfs_per_pf = 0x40 (64)NOTE:The adapter supports a total maximum of 128 virtual functions across all physical functions.
