When upgrading firmware on NVMe drives with direct attach configuration from HPK4 to HPK5 using the Smart Component RPM packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.0, 9.1, 9.2 and 9.3, the command "nvme info" does not display the updated firmware version after the upgrade.In the HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO), the updated firmware version displays as expected.This is not HPE-specific.
Any HPE system running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.0, 9.1, 9.2 or 9.3.
This is fixed in the 5.41.0-427 kernel. Upgrade from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.0, 9.1, 9.2 or 9.3 to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 to avoid the issue.In addition, rebooting the system after the firmware upgrade will display the updated NVMe drive firmware.
