On any of the HPE SimpliVity systems mentioned in the Scope section below, running SimpliVity OmniStack version 5.0.0, a LUN_RESET smartpqi error may occur due to an issue with the kernel tuning parameter,nr_requests, where the value is non-optimal.With the SimpliVity OmniStack 5.0.0 release, thenr_requestsvalue is set to 1013. The correct value for this parameter should be 128. This parameter sets the maximum queue depth for the block devices.

The issue has been resolved inOmniStack 5.1.0U1. Upgrading to OmniStack 5.0.0 is no longer advised.The following workarounds are available:Option 1:Download and run the scriptreset_ssa_qd.shfrom the My HPE Software Center.-- Running the script,reset_ssa_qd.sh, will set the kernel parameter nr_requests to 128.-- No downtime or reboot is required to run this script.-- This script will make this setting persistent across reboots.-- This script must be run on every SimpliVity node running SimpliVity version 5.0.0 from the Command Line Interface (CLI)Link to download thereset_ssa_qd.zipand readme_reset_ssa_qd.txt file.NOTE: If assistance is needed running the script, contactHPE Simplivity Support.Option 2:If there are a large number of nodes running SimpliVity 5.0.0, contact HPE SimpliVity Support to have the nr_requests value set to 128 on all SimpliVity 5.0.0 nodes in the federation/cluster.Revision HistoryDocument VersionRelease DateDetails2September 27, 2024Updated Resolution.1July 31, 2024Original Document Release.
