After an unexpected shutdown on any HPE ProLiant Gen10, Gen10 Plus, or Gen11 servers configured with SmartCache running ESXi 7.0 or 8.0, the following 1931 POST/IML error message may appear.This issue may occur when Smart Array Gen10, Gen10 Plus, and Gen11 controllers are configured for SmartCache using SmartPQI VMware driver versions, and the system is shut down unexpectedly.VMware ESXi 7.0 Drivers:70.4532.0.10870.4600.0.115VMware ESXi 8.0 Drivers:80.4532.0.10880.4600.0.115POST/IML message:1931-Slot 2 Smart Array - Data in write cache has been lost.

This issue is resolved in a ESXi 7.0 and ESX 8.0 driver components as follows:VMware ESXi 7.0 Driver ComponentsHPE ProLiant Gen10 Smart Array and Gen10 Plus and Gen11 Smart RAID Controller Driver for VMware vSphere 7.0 (Driver Component) Version 2024.10.01(or later).VMware ESXi 8.0 Driver ComponentsHPE ProLiant Gen10 Smart Array and Gen10 Plus and Gen11 Smart RAID Controller Driver for VMware vSphere 8.0 (Driver Component) Version 2024.10.01(or later).As a workaround, HPE recommends completing any of the following steps applicable to prevent this issue from occurring:Option 1:Do not do shut down the server unexpectedly.Option 2:Use the uninterruptible power supply (UPS).Option 3:Change the SmartCache configuration from write-back to write-through or disable SmartCache.
