When you click "Check Compliance" on the summary page, you get the below error: The "Check VM Storage Policy Compliance" operation failed for the entity with the following error message org.apache.axis2.AxisFault: Connection refused (Connection refused) This indicates that the vSAN IOFILTER Providers are having issues or offline.
vsanvpd service on the hosts not running causing all the storage providers under vCenter Server > Configure > Storage Providers to show offline.
You want to check the status of the storage providers under vCenter Server > Configure > Storage Providers and initiate synchronizing vSAN storage providers by clicking the icon for synchronization in the page: It might take a few minutes, but you should see the IOFILTER providers change from Offline to Online. If the vSAN storage providers are offline, you may see an error similar to the below error when clicking on the "Check Compliance" link on the summary page. The "Check VM Storage Policy Compliance" operation failed for the entity with the following error message. com.vmware.vim.binding.vmodl.fault.InvalidArgument In this case, the vsanvpd service on the hosts was not running. You can start the service in an ssh session to the host: [root@hostname:~] /etc/init.d/vsanvpd start vsanvpd started [root@hostname:~] /etc/init.d/vsanvpd status vsanvpd is running. Once the service is started on all the hosts, click the button for synchronization under vCenter Server > Configure > Storage Providers again and all the storage providers should go back online again. Then you can check the storage compliance without errors. If you are still seeing errors consult the Broadcom article: https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?legacyId=49798
