After upgrading to DCU version 5.6.0 or higher, the application may fail to run or install updates during the OSD phase. If this issue occurs, the DCU logs record an error with return code 3006. Affected Application: Dell Command Update (DCU) version 5.6.0 or higher
This issue occurs due to recent changes made by Microsoft to the Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE) Application Programming Interface (API). Consequently, DCU is restricted from performing update activities during the OOBE phase and the subsequent one-hour quiet period.
Note: Before starting the update, perform the following: Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to Back Up and Recovery . Connect the AC adapter if updates are being run on a laptop. Ensure that power remains connected if updates are being run on a desktop. Updating DCU to version 5.7.1 or later on the computer resolves the issue.
