Dell Pro 14 Premium PA14260 system displays a diagnostics warning message: Warning: The BIOS recovery image is missing. Reinstall BIOS to create the recovery image. Failure to reinstall the BIOS may result in boot failure. This occurs after reinstalling the Operating System and likely occurs each time. When reimaging the system (for example, by assessing clean , formatting the SSD, or replacing the SSD), the warning message appears because the BIOS recovery image is stored on the NVMe storage device.
Improvements for SPI flash healing and transitioning to NVMe base recovery. The system requires the BIOS recovery file to reside in the Dell recovery path on the storage device. This file may be cleared during OS reinstallation.
Updating to BIOS version 1.2.0 (Dell_Pro_14_Premium_PA14260_1.2.0.exe) or later on the computer resolves the issue. To download and install the BIOS, reference Dell BIOS update. Each time the Operating System reimage process is completed, the BIOS must be updated. Note: Microsoft Windows Update and Dell Command Update does not update the BIOS if the latest BIOS version is the same as the current system BIOS version. The BIOS file must be updated from the Dell Support Site to rebuild the BIOS recovery file. After running the BIOS executable (Dell_Pro_14_Premium_PA14260_1.3.2.exe), the system restarts automatically and updates the BIOS. After the BIOS update completes, the system restarts again. The recovery file is automatically placed in the Dell BIOS recovery path. For more information regarding the reimaging process, refer to the reimage guide link: Dell Pro 14 Premium PA14260 Reimaging Guide for Windows for more information. Note: If making a custom EFI system partition, reserve 300MB for the partition.
