A warning message may be received that says, "Dock is connected to a non-Thunderbolt port and will perform as a standard USB-C dock offering video, data, and power. For optimal speed and resolution, use a Thunderbolt port if available." This may be seen when the computer powers on while docked. Garbage may flash on the docked monitor for less than a second when clicking Continue if the monitor is connected to the dock's HDMI port and dock warning messages are enabled in BIOS setup. Clicking Continue provokes a warm reset on the computer when the garbage flashes on-screen. The garbage on-screen might appear similar to the image below of a black screen with a brightly colored stripe on it.
