A high-frequency ultrasonic noise may be heard from a Logitech Tap controller leveraging Microsoft Teams Rooms on an OptiPlex 7000 XE Micro. This sound occurs upon operating system boot when running Microsoft Teams Rooms in a Dell Video Conferencing Room Solutions configuration if the Enable ultrasound beacon option is enabled from Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro Management . Turning off the Enable ultrasound beacon feature stops the noise, but this feature may need to remain enabled. Affected Products: OptiPlex 7000 XE Micro with factory-installed Microsoft Teams Rooms in Kiosk mode and a Logitech Tap Controller Dell Video Conferencing Room Solutions (VCRS) (formerly Dell Meeting Space Solutions)
The issue may stem from a faulty or improperly installed Realtek audio driver. This has been observed with Realtek audio driver build 6.0.9780.1. The issue may also be observed with earlier build versions.
To resolve this issue, check the Connection Schema , Update the BIOS , Uninstall the Realtek Audio Driver , and then Reinstall the Realtek Audio Driver . Connection Schema Ensure that the connection schema is configured as is outlined in the Dell Video Conferencing Room Solutions for Microsoft Teams Rooms Setup Guide from Support for OptiPlex 7000 XE Micro Manuals and Documents . Update the BIOS Ensure that the BIOS is up to date. Note: Before starting the update, perform the following: Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to Back Up and Recovery . Ensure that power remains connected. To download and install the BIOS, refer to the BIOS Update Guide . Uninstall the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver Fully uninstall the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver through Device Manager. This clean removal helps eliminate potential corruption or conflicts introduced during installation. Click the Start menu, search for device manager , and then open Device Manager . Right-click the Realtek High Definition Audio (or equivalent) device under Sound, video and game controllers . Select Uninstall device . When prompted, check the box to Delete the driver software for this device to ensure complete removal of driver files. Restart the computer and continue to Reinstall the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver . Reinstall the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver After completing the driver uninstallation and rebooting the computer, reinstall the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver. Note: Before starting the update, perform the following: Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to Back Up and Recovery . Ensure that power remains connected. Update the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver to version 6.0.9780.1 or later from Support for OptiPlex 7000 XE Micro Drivers & Downloads . Select and download the exact matching version if available, or the closest equivalent recommended for your hardware. Install the downloaded Realtek High Definition Audio Driver. Reboot the OptiPlex 7000 XE Micro.
