Observed Issues When the LR bit (DWORD 12 bit 31) is set to 1. Setting the LR bit to 1 on Dell NVMe SSDs may produce the following symptoms: Drives report unusually high media error rates Significant degradation in drive performance Disruption or failure of storage‑dependent software applications
LR Bit configuration on Dell NVMe SSDs is Unsupported in PowerEdge Environments. The Limited Retry bit is not intended for use in PowerEdge servers. Although PowerEdge firmware can set this bit, Dell does not support its use in PowerEdge servers. LR = 1 forces the SSD to use the Time‑Limited Error Recovery (TLER) values, which sets a limit to error‑recovery time and can increase media error reporting
Dell Technologies advises against manually altering the default configuration of the LR bit (DWORD 12, bit 31), as such changes are not supported.
