NAS backup of a NetApp NFS share using PPDM fails. Error message displayed: ABNA0049: Unable to secure the root volume security-style with 'unix' or 'mixed' type for the NFS share /<share_name>
The root volume security style for the NFS share is configured as NTFS , which is unsupported for PPDM Dynamic NAS backups. Using NTFS may lead to improper access control and potential security vulnerabilities, so PPDM blocks the backup operation.
Ensure that the root volume security style for the NFS share is set to UNIX or MIXED . Backups fail if the security style is NTFS . To verify the current security style on the NetApp cluster: For a specific volume: volume show -field security-style -volume <volume_name> For all volumes: volume show -field security-style If the security style is NTFS , update it to UNIX or MIXED (performed by the NetApp administrator) before retrying the backup.
