Microsoft has released Windows 11 hotfix KB5074109 on January 13, 2026. Some computers may stop responding or encounter a blue screen STOP error after installing this hotfix. Not all computers encounter these failures. Check if the computer has installed KB5074109: Start the computer and go into the operating system. Press Win+R keys and enter Winver , then press the Enter key. Check that the OS Build version is 26200.7623 or 26100.7623. Affected Platforms: Alienware 16 Area-51 AA16250 Alienware 16 Aurora AC16250 Alienware 16X Aurora AC16251 Alienware 18 Area-51 AA18250 Alienware Area-51 AAT2250 Alienware Aurora ACT1250 Dell Tower Plus EBT2250
The issue is caused by Microsoft hotfix KB5074109.
Note: Before starting the update, perform the following: Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to Back Up and Recovery . Ensure that power remains connected to the desktop. Installing KB5077181 (26200.7840 and 26100.7840) resolves the issue: Press Win + S keys to launch Windows Settings. Go to Windows Update, click Check for updates to install the KB5077181 (26200.7840 and 26100.7840). After Windows Update is completed, press Win+R and enter Winver , press the Enter key to confirm the version is 26200.7840, 26100.7840, or later.
