Microsoft SQL Server may be unable to be installed on Windows 11 when the operating system is installed using the Microsoft inbox driver. This can happen when the BIOS Serial ATA ( SATA) Operation setting is set to Advanced Host Controller Interface ( AHCI) instead of RAID On . While attempting to install SQL Server, an error message states the following: "Unable to install SQL Server (setup.exe). Exit code (Decimal): -2061893606Error description: Wait on the Database Engine recovery handle failed. Check the SQL Server error log for potential causes." In PowerShell, check the physical sector size by typing Get-Disk | Select Number, FriendlyName, LogicalSectorSize, PhysicalSectorSize and then pressing Enter. This issue occurs when the value of PhysicalSectorSize is not 4096.
