Dell Micron 7500 Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) solid state drives (SSDs) may fail to report all required details to iDRAC. Due to inaccurate temperature data, iDRAC compensates by increasing fan RPM speeds. The drive did not correctly report its model string, serial number, or firmware version as shown in the figure below:
A firmware issue has been identified and is resolved in the latest code.
Update firmware on Micron 7500 drives at the earliest available opportunity to resolve this issue. A system power cycle may be required after updating the drive firmware to ensure that I2C communications are fully restored. Importance: Urgent: Dell Technologies highly recommends applying this important update as soon as possible. The update contains critical issue fixes and changes to improve the functionality, reliability, and stability of your Dell system. It may also include security fixes and other feature enhancements.
