Dell Wyse Management Suite may fail to update to version 5.x. It gives an error of: "SoftwareVault is not initialized. Prerequisites Checks Failed. Setup will abort now." Affected Software: Dell Wyse Management Suite Affected Versions: v4.X v5.X
The computer’s hostname has more than 15 characters. Microsoft does not recommend hostnames over 15 characters, but it is possible to configure the computer this way. The Wyse Management Suite update process relies on the NetBIOS name for the update.
Before starting the update, go to C:\Program Files\DELL\WMS\SoftwareVault in Windows Explorer. Right-click LongServerHostname.FCD and choose to Rename it to LongServerHostn.FCD . Launch the Dell Wyse Management Suite installer and wait for the installer UI to appear. Once the installer UI is visible, right-click LongServerHostn.FCD and choose to Rename it back to its original name LongServerHostname.FCD . Continue the upgrade process.
