Dell Pro Desktops have a Boot issue after setting Wake-on-LAN with PXE in the BIOS You may experience the following Boot issue after you set Wake-on-LAN (WOL) with PXE boot in the BIOS of your Dell Pro desktop: The desktop boots into PXE mode rather than booting into the operating system as you expect it to. This affects the following Dell Pro Desktops: Dell Pro Tower QCT1255 Dell Pro Micro QCM1255 What is WOL and PXE? Wake-on-LAN : A networking standard that allows your desktop to be turned on or awakened remotely from sleep or hibernation by a network message PXE : Standards that enable your desktop to load an operating system over your network connection
This is due to a coding issue with the Operating System recovery tool.
Note: You must have administrator rights on the desktop to make any operating system changes or update any software. Update the BIOS driver to Driver name , version 1.0.3 or later . To download and install the driver.exe filename see: Dell Knowledge Base Article: BIOS Update Guide Back to Top
