This error indicates a potential under-voltage fault, which resulted in the drive to reset and not save the NVC resulting in the Medium Format Corrupt errors.
Dell has released updated firmware that disables Hardware DRAM Self-Refresh that can lead to an unexpected drive reset. Dell Engineering recommends installing this firmware on all Seagate Skybolt drives at the earliest opportunity to avoid impact to data. Drives that have already been reported as medium format corrupt must be replaced. Systems without an active service contract can restore drive functionality by reformatting with operating system utilities such as sg_format. Note: Reformatting large capacity drives requires an extended timeframe and can take 1 or 2 days to complete. VxRail releases 7.0.540 and 8.0.320 introduce the fixed firmware versions for this problem. Upgrading the cluster to 8.0.320 or a later version in 8.0 release and 7.0.540 in 7.0 release can fix this problem.
