Expanding R1 volume, RDF1+TDEV volume which fails with - "Cannot use the device for this function because it is a Copy Session source." R1 volume is not part of any SNAPVX session or TimeFinder Clone session. The above can be checked with the following command: symsnapvx -sid <local_symmetrix_id> list and symclone -sid <local_symmetrx_id> list
When we try to expand the Source R1 volume (RDF1+TDEV), starting from PowerMax 5978, the Target volume R2 (RDF2+TDEV) is also expanded automatically along with R1. As the target R2 volume (RDF2+TDEV) (which can be found through below command) symrdf -sid <local_symmetrix_id> -rdfg <grp_no> query was part of Clone and SNAPVX session, it was failing with error - " Cannot use the device for this function because it is a Copy Session source "
Removed the Clone session of the Target R2 volume by running the terminate command. Removed the SNAPVX session by Unlinking the target and terminating the snapshot Later, expanded R1 volume which completed successfully.
