ME5 Storage Management will report host map and host redundancy errors after the controller reboots. There is no connectivity loss if Multipath I/O (MPIO) is configured correctly. This message only appears in the UI; the CLI does not display any errors. Here are some scenarios related to Microsoft Windows and ESXi (VMware) platforms: Microsoft Windows multipathing was configured correctly After restarting controller A, the redundant Windows volume did not prompt any errors After both controllers are up, Restart controller "B" and the Windows volume prompts a redundant error after Controller B completes the reboot Rebooting controller "A" again after both controllers are up, the volume redundant error will be resolved ESXi: #show host-groups Name Number of Members -------------------------- VMware 7 Name Number of Members ---------------------------- flxxxxxx 1 Nickname Discovered Mapped Profile Host Type ID --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- flxxxxxx Yes Yes Standard iSCSI iqn.xxxx-xx.com.vmware:flxxxxxx.xx.xxxx.com.br:xxxxxxxxxx:xxFrom VMware side we can see multiples path to both controllers: storage nmp path listDevice Display Name2 volumes:naa.600c0fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx VOL01_SSD-SAS 63330c08-xxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxxxx naa.600c0fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx VOL02_SAS 63330c3a-xxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxDellEMC iSCSI Disk (naa.600c0fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)VMW_PSP_RRVMW_SATP_ALUAvmhba64:C0:T0:L0vmhba64:C2:T0:L0 DellEMC iSCSI Disk (naa.600c0fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)VMW_PSP_RRVMW_SATP_ALUAvmhba64:C3:T0:L1vmhba64:C1:T0:L18 paths - Two paths per controller and 4 per Volume:Path Selection Policy Path ConfigStorage Array Type Path ConfigDellEMC iSCSI Disk (naa.600c0fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)PSP VMW_PSP_RR does not support path configuration.{TPG_id=0,TPG_state=AO,RTP_id=1,RTP_health=UP}DellEMC iSCSI Disk (naa.600c0fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)PSP VMW_PSP_RR does not support path configuration.{TPG_id=0,TPG_state=ANO,RTP_id=1,RTP_health=UP}DellEMC iSCSI Disk (naa.600c0fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)PSP VMW_PSP_RR does not support path configuration.{TPG_id=1,TPG_state=ANO,RTP_id=7,RTP_health=UP}DellEMC iSCSI Disk (naa.600c0fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)PSP VMW_PSP_RR does not support path configuration.{TPG_id=1,TPG_state=AO,RTP_id=7,RTP_health=UP}DellEMC iSCSI Disk (naa.600c0fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)PSP VMW_PSP_RR does not support path configuration.{TPG_id=0,TPG_state=AO,RTP_id=3,RTP_health=UP}DellEMC iSCSI Disk (naa.600c0fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)PSP VMW_PSP_RR does not support path configuration.{TPG_id=0,TPG_state=ANO,RTP_id=3,RTP_health=UP}DellEMC iSCSI Disk (naa.600c0fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)PSP VMW_PSP_RR does not support path configuration.{TPG_id=1,TPG_state=ANO,RTP_id=5,RTP_health=UP}DellEMC iSCSI Disk (naa.600c0fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)PSP VMW_PSP_RR does not support path configuration.{TPG_id=1,TPG_state=AO,RTP_id=5,RTP_health=UP}
Based on the observations, the host initiators do not log in during Controller B reboot. The Controller Web-Based Instruction (WBI) is reporting the correct status. This is considered working as per design.
Perform a rolling reboot on the array controllers. Reboot Controller A. Once Controller A comes back online Reboot controller B Once B comes online Reboot Controller A again. Or Rebooting the hosts connected to storage one at a time resolves the issue.
