An error was generated when trying to create an NFS share. The error message states that a share with the specified name already exists in the NAS server, even though it did not appear to exist. There are two scenarios that can result in this error when attempting to create a share.Scenario (1):A subfolder is already using a shared name that is the same as the file system name.AndAn attempt was made to create a new share directly under the file system.Scenario (2):An NFS share with a name different from the file system name is created directly under the file system.AndAn attempt was made to create an NFS share with the same name as the file system name in a subfolder.
When an NFS share is created, it is accessible by both the share name and the local path.If a share with a file system name exists in a subfolder, creation of the share directly under the file system fails. This is because the local path (/filesystem_name) entry is duplicated when creating a share directly under the file system. If a share is created directly under the file system, it cannot have the same name as the file system name in a subfolder. This is because there is already an entry for /filesystem_name.This behavior is functioning as designed.
Avoid creating an NFS share with the same name as the file system in a subfolder.
