An air filter degraded alert is sent from VxRail systems based on PowerEdge 14th or 15th Generation servers which do not have Telco-Edge-Bezel. The following event BEZL0003 can be observed in the LifeCycle Log on iDRAC. 2023-02-24 07:48:29 2814 RED063 The iDRAC firmware updated successfully. Previous version: 6.00.30.00, Current version: 6.10.00.00 2023- 02-23 16:23:01 2760 BEZL0003 Air filter functionality in the bezel is degraded. 2022- 11-25 16:19:00 1765 RED063 The iDRAC firmware updated successfully. Previous version: 5.10.50.00, Current version: 6.00.30.00 Additional Event Filter configurations such as SMTP or SNMP Traps will send notifications upon event trigger if configured.
iDRAC9 is a baseboard management controller (BMC) built into Dell PowerEdge servers which monitor the air filter health for Telco-Edge-Bezels using two methods: Active Sensing Airflow CountDown Mode iDRAC9 Firmware 6.00.30.00 the air filter monitoring did not check the system platform and countdown mode would track the PowerOnTime vs FilterChangeInterval (Default 90 days) and update FilterLifeRemaining. When FilterLifeRemaining reaches 0 the BEZL0003 event is logged which will be around 2160 hours or 90 days running on 6.00.30.00 firmware regardless if the system model actually uses the Telco-Edge-Bezels or not. The only VxRail model that has a Telco-Edge-Bezel would be the VD-4000 series accordingly this is the only model where this alert required additional investigation into the status of the bezel. All other VxRail Models do not have this bezel as an option and the alert can be safely ignored/reset/cleared as required. VxRail code releases that included the affected iDRAC version and may generate false alert (besides the VD-4000 series) are as per below: VxRail release 7.0.405 < 7.0.450 VxRail release 8.0.00 < 8.0.020
This issue has been resolved in iDRAC9 Firmware 6.10.00.00 which added platform checks to air filter monitoring so the alarm cannot trigger again for system models that do not use the Telco-Edge-Bezels.
