Following error message can be seen for the failed check fw_readiness while running the PowerProtect DP Rapid Upgrade Checker Utility: Firmware pre-upgrade checks failed. [ x.x.x.x ]: The cached response with Node Event Service is disabled. Node Event Service is in a degraded state,iDRAC Service Module is not available/active at this time. Check iDRAC Service Module/iDRAC status. Note : One of the possible reasons of this failure is there is a problem with PM1735 NVMe FW or PCIe riser. By default, PTAgent does automatic device-scan and cache the storage device properties. PTAgent failed to find component ' PhysicalDisk ' in hwInventory because it has trouble to inquire data from the NVMe PM1735 card in slot #4. Important: This KB Article only applied to DP4400 appliances. Do not follow this KB Article for DP5000 and DP8000 series.
By default, PTAgent does automatic device-scan and caches the storage device properties. The PTAgent failed to find component 'PhysicalDisk' in hwInventory because it has trouble to inquire data from the NVMe/PCIe PM1725b card in slot #4. It could be caused by a problem with NVMe PCIe riser or FW.
NOTE: You need to check iDRAC hw inventory or TSR logs and look for the model "PM1735" before actually trying to apply the firmware since it wont work if it is not PM1735. Following workarounds can be applied to resolve this issue: 1. Upgrade NVMe/PCIe 1735 firmware to 2.3.0 (For NVMe 1735 drive, V2.0.2 or later is acceptable) Download 14G FW 2021-December-Block from the support site : https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/integrated-data-protection-appliance/drivers Extract the package and the contents contain the 1735 FW Express-Flash-PCIe-SSD_Firmware_RP8RC_WN64_2.3.0_A03.EXE. Enable service mode on the appliance by running the following command on ACM: dpacli -servicemode Update NVMe 1735 FW to 2.3.0 via iDRAC manually. Powercycle the appliance for firmware update to be committed. 2. If steps above do not work and the issue persists, attempt a power down recycle sequence: On ACM, enable service mode on the appliance by running the following command on ACM: dpacli -servicemode Power down Unplug power cord Hold down power button for 10 seconds Plug in power cord Power up 3. If steps 1 and 2 listed above do not resolve the issue, it could be an issue with slot/riser. Replace the PCIe riser.
