RUCK tool fails on DNS Check with the following error: [ERROR] The hostname set for components xxx on their respective VMs are different than the ones resolved from the DNS. Ensure that the hostnames are set correctly for all components and try again.
This error may happen if the component's hostname in DNS does not match the set hostnames on the Components. One possible cause is changes on DNS after deployment.
NOTE: RUCK tool fetches the DNS servers from the file /usr/local/dataprotection/var/configmgr/server_data/config/commonconfig.xml. The primary and secondary DNS servers mentioned in the commonconfig.xml are the ones that the RUCK tool uses to run lookups for all Integrated Data Protection Appliance components. Users must ensure that correct DNS server IP Addresses are mentioned in the commonconfig.xml file. NOTE: The GoIDPA tool can provide more information about this issue, follow the below article to install GoIDPA: PowerProtect Data Protection Appliance: GoIDPA tool Then run the following command on the ACM: ./goidpa appliance hostname If the hostname check failure issue is observed for some component, then follow the below steps for the failed components: Use the below command on ACM to verify if the DNS is resolving the component IP to the correct domain: host -W 10 -T <component IP> <DNS IP> <Note: DNS can be found in /etc/resolv.conf> Use the following command on the respective Component to get the hostname: hostname -f (for all components except Protection Storage/Data Domain and Hypervisor Manager/vCenter) hostname.get (for Hypervisor Manager/vCenter) hostname (for Protection Storage/Data Domain) Compare the two hostnames. It must be the same. If not, then correct the hostname entry on the respective DNS Server and move forward. NOTE: If the hostnames are the same but there is a case difference between the hostname entry on DNS and the hostname set on the component, then contact Dell Technical Support and mention this article ID.
