When using the DTK ISO during a hardware FW upgrade procedure, the server will reboot if the Enter key is pressed. Impact If the server reboots in the middle of a hardware FW upgrade, the server may experience instability.
In the newer hardware DTK ISOs with the naming scheme "VxFlex-Ready-Node-Hardware-Update-for-Dell..", the internal script's code was changed. Consequently, a silent background binary listens for the Enter key to be pressed. If the Enter key is pressed during the FW upgrade, the server will reboot. Old DTK ISOs with the naming scheme "ScaleIO-Ready-Node-Hardware-Update-for-Dell.." did not experience this issue.
During the FW upgrade, avoid pressing the Enter key. If the iDRAC console needs to be reactivated due to inactivity, use the keyboard arrow keys to wake the console. Impacted Versions All hardware update ISOs with the naming scheme "VxFlex-Ready-Node-Hardware-Update-for-Dell".
