Scenario One: The administrator is unable to modify or change home directories for existing Active Directory (AD) users within OneFS, receiving the error: "the requested home directory is in use by someone else" Replication steps: WebUI: WebUI > users tab > select zone > system>ADS: select user Change home directory, receive error: "requested home directory is in use by someone else" Command-line interface (CLI) isi_classic auth local users modify --name=EMC\smith --homedir=/ifs/Departments --force Receive the same error as above: "requested home directory is in use by someone else" Scenario Two: An administrator may also get the error, above, when creating a new user in OneFS as well. To avoid this, when creating a new user, and defining a custom home directory for the user, for example, /ifs/departments/<user> , verify that the directory /ifs/departments/<user> does not exist. In other words, do not create the home directory beforehand. The directory is created when the 'user create' command is run. A skeleton shell is copied over to the new directory from the default home directory on Isilon.
Scenario One: Modification of home directories can only be done for local users, but not AD users. Modifications of this type are controlled at the Active Directory level, and not configured on PowerScale. Scenario Two: Similar to the above, when creating a new user, and defining a custom home directory for the user, that is,. /ifs/departments/<user> , make sure the directory does not exist. In other words, do not create the home directory beforehand. The directory is created when the user create command is run. A skeleton shell is copied over to the new directory from the default home directory on Isilon.
This workflow is not allowed on OneFS. See the ' Cause ' section, above, for more details. If you continue to receive the error, please contact PowerScale Support for further assistance.
