Customers see that Avamar Client Manager cannot push upgrades for the following application plug-ins after ItemPoint integration: Hyper-VSharePointSQL ServerExchange The issue occurs for Avamar versions 7.4 and later. Avamar Client Manager displays no option or fails when attempting a push upgrade for these application plug-ins.
Avamar Client Manager push install and upgrade support was removed for Hyper-V, SharePoint, SQL Server, and Exchange. Starting with Avamar version 7.4, ItemPoint integration modified plug-in packages from .msi format to .exe format. The .exe packaging supports bundled installation of Dell ItemPoint components. Avamar Client Manager does not support push installation or push upgrade for .exe based application packages.
Perform a manual upgrade for the affected Avamar application plug-ins. Uninstall the existing Avamar application plug-in from the host. Uninstall Hyper-V, SharePoint, SQL Server, or Exchange Avamar Plug-in as applicable. Run the new application installer manually. Use the .exe installer included with the Avamar version that includes ItemPoint integration. Complete the installation following the on-screen installer workflow. Validate successful installation by confirming: The Avamar Client appears correctly in Avamar Administrator.Application backups start successfully. Avamar Client Manager cannot perform push upgrades for these application plug-ins in Avamar 7.4 and later.
