Microsoft leverages. MUI files for Windows applications. During the Dell Encryption process, we are losing the ability to read these files properly. This invokes an action that may strip permissions from these file types. To prevent this from happening, Dell suggested adding these two policy lines to exclude Windows Apps and System Apps (Store, so forth) from being encrypted. These typically contain no sensitive information. Consult your security team before implementing to weigh the impact. -^%ENV:SYSTEMDRIVE%\Program Files\WindowsApps\ -^%ENV:SYSTEMROOT%\SystemApps\ If you have computers that are affected, we can remediate them with these commands from an administrative command prompt: Takeown /f C:\windows\system32\en-us\*.mui icacls C:\windows\system32\en-us\*.mui /grant "ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES":(OI)(CI)F /C These commands reset the permissions to the MUI files and allow Windows to leverage them again. Note: This issue is resolved in v8.17.2 and later.
