A memory leak has been identified in the pltfm_config process on the Nexus 9000 GX2A platform under specific long-duration configuration transition scenarios. Over time, the leak can cause gradual memory growth and may impact system stability during extended stress/regression workloads.
Gradual increase in memory usage of the pltfm_config process over time. Potential downstream effects during extended runs, such as reduced stability or process termination in extreme cases (e.g., memory pressure conditions). Leak signature may be observed in internal diagnostics/core analysis tools as small but persistent allocations associated with interface creation parsing/handling paths.
This issue is most likely to occur when all of the following apply: Platform: QP hardware, GX2A. Workload pattern: extended/continuous runs (hours/overnight). Repeated transitions between ASM mode and BiDir mode configurations while traffic is running.
Avoid frequent ASM BiDir mode switching during sustained traffic runs when possible (batch changes, reduce toggle rate, or minimize churn). For long-duration automation/stress tests, schedule periodic maintenance actions to reclaim memory, such as restarting the pltfm_config process or performing a controlled reboot between test phases.
