1. Increase of "Input errors" on an interface without any other counters increasing under show interfaces (e.g. CRC/frame/overrun/ignored/giants/throttles/drops/flushes) when receiving "BPDU Topology Change Notification" packets. 2. This issue has also been seen where GRE packets with flags set as non-zero are getting dropped with NO input errors or QFP drops.
For issue 1: This issue has been seen on the Catalyst 8500L when receiving BPDU Topology Change Notification packets continuously. The counter of "Input errors" on the receiving interface may continue to increase, while other interface error counters will remain constant. Issue 2: Seen on Catalyst 8000 series routers (C8500L, C8300...) when receiving Aruba keepalives the packets are silently dropped, no errors on interfaces, no QFP drops
Upgrade to a version 17.12 or latest for the fix
This defect will cause the routers to drop Aruba keepalive message (GRE 0x9000), which causes Aruba APs to be unable to communicate with the Aruba WLC.
