Nexus 7000 fails to checkout the fabricpath license, and the switch might not come up at reload or after power cycle.
The fabricpath feature-set is installed and enabled and the FP configuration is saved, but the FP license (ENHANCED LAYER2 PKG) is expired or the switch can't read it for some other reason. Reloading or power cycling the switch with the startup configuration might trigger this failure. The following syslog is seen: %FEATURE-MGR-2-FM_FEATURE_LICENSE_ERROR: license ENHANCED_LAYER2_PKG checkout failure for fabricpath, error 0x40900024 (Feature grace period is disabled)
Before reloading the switch with the configuration having the fabricpath feature-set which requires a license, if that license is expired, users should do "copy-r-s" or "write-erase" before reload to remove the configuration from the startup-cfg. If users do not do "copy-r-s" or "write-erase" and reload the switch, the following can be done to recover the switch: 1. power cycle the switch 2. press Ctrl-C until it falls to loader prompt 3. reload the switch with the kickstart image only 4. write erase 5. reload the switch with the kickstart and system image. The switch would come up without the configuration. If users want to keep the configuration, after reloading the switch with the kickstart image, they should load the debug plugin and save /var/sysmgr/startup-cfg/ascii/system.cfg. then use the ascii-cfg file after the switch comes up in NX-OS.
The issue has also been seen after chassis replacement (the licenses in the SUPs from the old chassis are mapped to the old chassis' SN which is different from the new chassis' SN).
