When a dial-peer containing session target is shut down the system produces a 503 error (Desired). The issue is that the customer doesn't want to be limited to a specific IP destination so uses server-groups. Somehow when server-group is used on the dial-peer and that is shut down, the response is an immediate 404 error which means their call processing stops.
using server-groups instead of session target yields this result. Found in c800-universalk9-mz.SPA.155-3.M *the version info didn't allow me to enter this option
