This behavior is by design; the printer is functioning as intended. Make sure one end of the Ethernet (network) cable is securely connected into the Ethernet port on the printer and that the other end of the cable is securely connected into the port on your network hub, router, or network drop (wall outlet with an Ethernet jack). Make sure the network cable is in working condition. Test the cable with other devices to ensure it is functioning properly. If available, try another cable.
