An informational article on how the MSP (Managed Service Provider) Workspace ONE Free Trial creation process has changed.
Before you Begin:In order to create a free trial for a customer, you must first have an active MSP partner account with VMware. The free trial will be provisioned within the MSP partners existing environment and will have a duration of 30 days. There will be a maximum of 100 devices allowed to be enrolled in the trial environment. Free trials can be converted to paid subscription engagements at any point during the initial 30 days. Enable an Environment: Using your user credentials log into the VMware Customer Connect portal. Once authenticated, you will be able to navigate to the Products & Accounts section. Then access the Funds Management tab, and then Cloud Provider Funds. This launches the Cloud Provider Funds page view. This will give you visibility into all of the contracts and environments for which you hold administrative privileges. You may need to scroll down to ensure you are attempting to add using the correct contract. Once here, you will click Add Services. Next you will arrive at the Configurator page. You will want to select New Service, and select Start, and navigate to AirWatch or Workspace ONE on the drop down menu provided. Once completed, the next screen presented will be Purchase a Subscription Service. You will now need to click the radio button for Region. Once entering "All" for Region, the Cloud Type options will now be presented. You will want to make your choice of Free Trial from the bottom of the list, and your Service Term will default to 1 Month. Continuing on to section two of the Purchase a Subscription Service, you will now be presented with the option to enter a quantity of devices into your free trial order. You may enter up to a quantity of 100 devices. Now you will be presented with the Review & Submit view. At this time you'll also need to enter your End Customer information. This includes Customer Name, Country and Zip Code or Postal Code. Please note that this information is important to get correct. If you have a trial that is successfully converted to a paid engagement, this information will be used to create the customer environment. When completed, scroll all the way to the bottom, and acknowledge the agreement to the Terms and Conditions. Then click Submit. Once completed you will be brought to a screen that tells you there will be an Order Confirmation sent via email. Also please note the Reference ID. The email that you receive would look similar to this example. Next you'll want to navigate once again to Products & Accounts, then Funds Management and Cloud Provider Funds. You will reach the list of your environments. Depending upon the number of active Service ID's, you may need to scroll down to find the new service. Not that it's Service Status will be Pending Provisioning. As an administrator you will receive a credential email. It should look similar to this example. Scroll down to the provided URL and User Name information. Eventually you might receive expiration notifications regarding your ongoing Free Trials. Ultimately, a de-activation email will be sent if the trial was not converted to a customer environment. Trial Status changes will be visible within the portal use the Service Status column. Service Status will show Active Trials for 30 days, Inactive Trials from day 31 - 210 days. After 210 days status will show expired. Ideally, you'll be seeing most of your trials go through the process of converting to paid status. When a Free Trial converts to a paid environment, you will see a change in Service Status to Active. And you will be able to see further details on the environment. When converting an environment is paid, you will also see two email notifications. The first will be an Order Provisioning request similar to this example. The second notification will be to verify that the provisioning is complete, similar to this example. You now have successfully converted a customer free trial to a paid engagement!
