Variables seen in backend are not shown in portal. Steps to Reproduce 1.Hop onto any OOB orlando instance(gkorlando) 2.Create two ACL on sc_req_item table first ACL: sc_req_item.* - read https://gkorlando.service-now.com/nav_to.do?uri=sys_security_acl.do?sys_id=0b48c1ee1b4e641039f855bf034bcb80 Second ACL: sc_req_item - read https://gkorlando.service-now.com/nav_to.do?uri=sys_security_acl.do?sys_id=6d8885ee1b4e641039f855bf034bcb32 3.Impersonate Beth Anglin and create any request item which contains variables and access it through Platform and portal 4.In platform the user is able to see the variables but on the portal the variables are not visible 5.Field ACL rule sc_req_item.variables of type read is not overruling the more common .* rule on the portal NOTE:We consider the Variable formatter and variables field on the table as two different entities, hence adding the ACL on the variables field won't apply to the variable editor.
After carefully considering the severity and frequency of this problem and the risk of attempting a fix, it has been decided to not address this issue in any current or future releases. We do not make these decisions lightly, and we apologize for any inconvenience.
