The earliest recollection of this bug is traced back to PAN-OS 8.1.16 - July 22, 2025. This bug is fixed in PAN-OS versions 8.1.16, 9.1.4. Fixed an issue where the locked users list grew too large, which caused 100% CPU usage on a process ( authd ). With this fix, locked users will be purged hourly if the lockout time for that user has expired.
