HPE has also provided a mitigation to defend against the risk, until the update is applied by customers. The problem is addressed in the latest version of RTMS (3.0.50) due in October 2018. Resolution - Customers should upgrade to RTMS 3.0.50 to obtain the fix in the code which discards zip files containing invalid and/or malicious paths. Note: If the ability to upload zip archives has been disabled using the commands in step [1] below, then this ability must be re-enabled using the commands in step [2] above before performing the upgrade. Interim Product Modification (IPM)s - Recommended Actions: It is recommended that the customer not use the "Upload MIB Archive" facility on unknown archive files to mitigate this risk. The following steps can be used to disable the feature. [1] For existing installations, the ability to upload zip archives can be disabled by using the following commands on the RTMS Server (or on both the Primary and Secondary server for an HA installation): (as root) mkdir -p /opt/OC/rtms/conf/mib chown rtmsadmin:rtmadmin /opt/OC/rtms/conf/mib chmod ugo-wx /opt/OC/rtms/conf/mib [2] The ability to upload zip archives can be restored by allowing write permission to the mib folder again: chmod ug+wx /opt/OC/rtms/conf/mib All zip archives should be manually unzipped and inspected on a desktop before being uploaded on an RTMS server if this facility is needed.
