Under certain conditions, when attempting to add a new Volume Template in HPE OneView, the following error will be displayed immediately after clicking the Create button: " Unable to create volume template 'Alletra Template' The attribute 'description' in the property 'folder' is read-only. Resolution Ensure the value for the attribute 'description' matches the root template value and retry the request ." The template records in the HPE OneView database contain these "description" strings established at the time the storage system is added to HPE OneView. The error message will appear because of a change to the "description" string contained in the "folder" and the "performance policy" items in the root template of the selected storage system. The table below illustrates when the issue may occur from the following conditions: Storage is added to the older or earlier OneView version (FROM) HPE OneView is updated to newer or later version (TO) New volume template creation is attempted From TO ISSUE? <= 6.60.03 >= 6.60.04 YES <= 6.60.03 >= 7.10 YES 7.00 >= 7.10 YES When HPE OneView is updated to a version that expects a new "description," such as, "Alletra 5000/6000 identifier..." rather than "Alletra 6000 identifier...", the issue can occur. NOTE : The above table is not exhaustive, there may be other scenarios where the issue may occur.
Any HPE OneView version managing HPE Alletra 5000 and 6000 Storage Arrays.
