Info
An HPE Edgeline EL4000 Converged Edge System configured with an HPE ProLiant m510 server cartridge running CentOS with inbox NIC drivers will experience network performance issues.
For example:
If running unidirectional or bi-directional Ethernet UDP traffic at 1518Byte standard payloads, the maximum data rate without dropping packets is only guaranteed at 1.8Gbps using Cent Os in-box driver. When using OFED Mellanox driver, 100% line rate is guaranteed, with zero packet loss on both ports running simultaneously.
This occurs because network performance is not optimal with the inbox Mellanox NIC driver.
Scope
Any HPE Edgeline EL4000 Converged Edge System configured with an HPE ProLiant m510 server cartridge running CentOS 6.8 (or later) or CentOs 7.2 (or later) with inbox NIC drivers.
Resolution
To restore network performance, download the latest Mellanox OFED driver from the Mellanox website for CentOS:
