Beginning January 2017, continued access to select Hewlett Packard Enterprise MSA Storage Array support materials, such as firmware downloads, will require linking your product serial numbers and HPE support agreements with an HPE Support Center account. In an effort to make searching for current and active versions of firmware more efficient, all inactive or obsolete firmware will be removed from the HPE Support Center. In the policy, firmware and software is no longer categorized as either supported or unsupported. Instead, all released code falls within one or more of the following categories: Active - Identifies a version of code with code base sustainment capabilities. Inactive - Identifies a version of code with no code base sustainment capabilities. Customers who do not upgrade their systems when their firmware or software becomes inactive are not following best practice recommendations from HPE and, as a result, face increased risk due to exposure to known (and unknown) issues. If systems are running inactive code and issues are encountered, then the ability to use HPE Storage engineering elevation processes will be restricted until affected systems are updated to active code. To find the current support version of firmware, refer to the HPE Modular Smart Array Storage - Product Firmware and Software Definitions and Support Policy for your array.
