After HPE Smart Storage Administrator version 6.65.9.0 is installed on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 10.2 or later, the utility may fail to launch from the GUI, such as when double-clicking the application icon. This issue may also occur when the utility is launched locally from a terminal by using the ssa -local command. This issue occurs when the system uses the default Flatpak-based Firefox installation instead of the RPM-based Firefox package required by HPE Smart Storage Administrator local mode.Although the July Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) supports RHEL 10.2, HPE Smart Storage Administrator 6.65.9.0 requires the RPM-based Firefox package to launch correctly on RHEL 10.2.
This issue applies to systems running Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 10.2 or later with HPE Smart Storage Administrator (SSA) version 6.65.9.0 or later installed.NOTE: RHEL 10.1 or earlier is supported and is not affected by this issue. This issue may be observed on platforms configured with supported HPE Smart Array SR controllers, including the controller models listed below.HPE Smart Array E208e-p SR Gen10 (8 External Lanes/No Cache) 12G SAS PCIe Plug-in Controller (804398-B21)HPE Smart Array E208i-a SR Gen10 (8 Internal Lanes/No Cache) 12G SAS Modular Controller (804326-B21)HPE Smart Array E208i-a SR Gen10 (8 Internal Lanes/No Cache) 12G SAS Modular LH Controller (869079-B21)HPE Smart Array E208i-c SR Gen10 (8 Internal Lanes/No Cache) 12G SAS Modular Controller (823852-B21)HPE Smart Array E208i-p SR Gen10 (8 Internal Lanes/No Cache) 12G SAS PCIe Plug-in Controller (804394-B21)HPE Smart Array P204i-b SR Gen10 (4 Internal Lanes/1GB Cache) 12G SAS Modular Controller (804367-B21)HPE Smart Array P204i-c SR Gen10 (4 Internal Lanes/1GB Cache) 12G SAS Modular Controller (804424-B21)HPE Smart Array P408e-m SR Gen10 (8 External Lanes/2GB Cache) 12G SAS Mezzanine Controller (804381-B21)HPE Smart Array P408e-p SR Gen10 (8 External Lanes/4GB Cache) 12G SAS PCIe Plug-in Controller (804405-B21)HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen10 (8 Internal Lanes/2GB Cache) 12G SAS Modular Controller (804331-B21)HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen10 (8 Internal Lanes/2GB Cache) 12G SAS Modular LH Controller (869081-B21)HPE Smart Array P408i-c SR Gen10 (8 Internal Lanes/2GB Cache) 12G SAS Modular Controller (823856-B21)HPE Smart Array P408i-p SR Gen10 (8 Internal Lanes/2GB Cache) 12G SAS PCIe Plug-in Controller (830824-B21)HPE Smart Array P816i-a SR Gen10 (16 Int Lanes/4GB Cache/SmartCache) 12G SAS Modular LH Controller (869083-B21)HPE Smart Array P816i-a SR Gen10 (16 Internal Lanes/4GB Cache/SmartCache) 12G SAS Modular Controller (804338-B21)HPE SR416i-a Gen10 Plus x16 Lanes 4GB Cache NVMe/SAS 24G Controller (P12688-B21)HPE SR416ie-m Gen11 x16 Lanes 4GB Cache SPDM Mezzanine Storage Controller (P39959-B21)HPE SR932i-p Gen10 Plus x32 Lanes 8GB Wide Cache NVMe/SAS 24G PCIe4 x16 Controller (P04220-B21)HPE SR932i-p Gen11 x32 Lanes 8GB Wide Cache PCI SPDM Plug-in Storage Controller (P47184-B21)
This issue is targeted to be addressed in a future version of HPE Smart Storage Administrator, currently expected in the first quarter of 2027. This advisory will be updated when a solution is available. As a workaround, install the RPM-based Firefox package by running the following command:sudo dnf install -y firefoxNOTE: The default Firefox installation may be Flatpak-based on RHEL 10.2 or later. HPE Smart Storage Administrator local mode requires the RPM-based Firefox package to launch the browser correctly.
